Emirates ID Participates in a Workshop on GIS

The Emirates Identity Authority has participated in the workshop organized by the UAE National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority on "The National Geographic Information Systems". The Workshop was held at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies & Research (ECSSR) with the participation of a number of ministries, departments and federal and local organizations for the purpose of discussing the work mechanisms and the national, unified and standardized criteria in the Geographical Information System (GIS).

The Workshop discussed a number of topics including standardizing concepts and criteria, establishing a geomechanical national database connecting the concerned departments and establishments in the country with the aim of helping the competent authorities to achieve their tasks in a more efficient and effective way, especially in times of emergencies and crises.

The participants reviewed the experience of Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Center and listened to a presentation on the role of Geographical Information System (GIS) and spatial data in managing emergencies. They also listened to another presentation on UAE National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority.

The Workshop witnessed an extensive seminar attended by representatives of the participating departments and establishments with the aim of obtaining suggestions and recommendations that contribute to improving and developing the work plan of UAE National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority.

The Authority was represented in this workshop by: Mr. Abdullah Askar, Advisor of the Residential Registration, Mr. Yousuf Al Kuwaiti, Head of applications Section and Mr. Abdullah Al Kindi, Operation Manager.
