Identity Conference 2010 Commences in Abu Dhabi

Under the auspices of H. H. Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Vice Chairman of the Emirates Identity Authority, the events of UAE Identity Conference 2010 commenced yesterday, corresponding to Tuesday, in Abu Dhabi which is organized by Gemalto in collaboration with Emirates ID and with the participation of a constellation of specialists and experts working in the field of identification documents, decision makers, and several government officials of more than twenty countries all over the world.

In the opening speech of H. H. Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, delivered on behalf of His Excellency by H.E General/Ahmed Nasser Al Raissi, Director –General of the Central Operations of the General Command of Abu Dhabi and the Executive Committee Chairman of Emirates ID Board of Directors, he expressed his wishes of success for all of the delegations participating in the conference. H.E. appreciated holding the conference in Abu Dhabi which had been selected by the organizing company upon the recommendations concluded by the previous conference hosted by the Swedish capital "Stockholm".

H.E. stated that the dialogue sessions and academic research to be discussed within the conference would set on the top of their priorities providing expertise and consultancy to e-governments in general so that they could discharge their works and fulfill their roles effectively, in addition to delivering services in a better manner than the current one with aim of reaching a new approach in lifestyle allowing the societies to realize their ambitions and dreams and to secure a better quality of life for the individuals along with the utilization of the capabilities of the e-government effective advanced multi-channel generation.

H.E. asserted that this conference with its distinguished international participations is an optimum opportunity and a wide space allowing cooperation field for the participating states and enabling them to exchange experiences and utilize the technical and administrative experiences in the field of the smart identity card, including tens of e-services. H.E. mentioned that Emirates ID would be careful for providing all types of support for the conference works to ensure its success and the realization of all of its goals, positively reflecting on the interest of our peoples, societies and nations.

On the other hand, Mr. Jacques Seneca, Executive Vice-President at Gemalto, delivered a speech thanking H. H. Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his generous auspice of the conference, H.E. General /Ahmed Nasser Al Raissi, H.E. Dr. Eng. /Ali Mohammed Al Khouri, Vice Chairman of Emirates ID Higher Management Committee, H.E. Matti Lassila, Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, and all of the delegations participating in the conference.

It is worth mentioning that the Identity Conference 2010 will continue its events along this Wednesday, at Abu Dhabi Rotana Beach Hotels & Towers, with several specialized academic sessions in which an elite group of scholars and specialists will take part.
